Mortal Kombat 1 will not be variations of characters, but there will be brutali

Netherrealm Studios confirmed that there will be no characters in Mortal Kombat 1, but, fortunately, brutality will return in it.

Since the announcement of Mortal Kombat 1, many questions arose regarding the plot, characters and mechanics of the game. While this whole story with the restart of the temporary scale has become much more understandable thanks to some recent trailers, the emphasis on Camo and the fate of the returning mechanic remained somewhat more foggy.

Fortunately, after the gameplay’s debut on Summer Game Fest just a few days ago, Netherrealm became more frank in relation to Mortal Kombat 1 and confirmed more specific details. The official Mortal Kombat account on Twitter answered the questions of fans about how the game will be held and spoke about some features of past games that will return and will not return.

Let’s start with bad news – there are no more variations. Mortal Kombat X has a function when each character had three variations with several specific techniques for each form, which was expanded in Mortal Kombat 11. In Mortal Kombat 1, this possibility was completely removed, since Netherrealm confirmed that each character will have one set of techniques.

This is due to the fact that the Camo system "Replaced the mechanics of variations", What once again shows how important the new function for Mortal Kombat 1 is. Moreover, Netherrealm also confirmed that Camo cannot be disabled and they will be active in every type of battle, so you better get used to them. At least each of them has their own fatalities.

By the way, the good news is that the return of BRTALITII was confirmed to Mortal Kombat 1, after they were presented both in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11. Until now, we have not seen any of them in action (probably because they are still quite difficult to fulfill and it requires special combo), but Netherrealm said that they are there: "Oh yeah. We could not imagine MK without brutality".

These two comments clarified quite a lot about the Mortal Kombat 1 gaming process, but there is one central mechanics that still remains in question – the equipment system. The equipment system that appeared in Mortal Kombat 11 allowed the players to customize their heroes as in Injustice 2, but so far it is not visible and Netherrealm does not mention it. We know that there are already skins, but it seems that the equipment system this time remained aside.
